Work related Respiratory disease still accounts for over 12,000 deaths per year and 30,000 breathing related problems. The BSIF believes that Occupational Health should be considered as a component part of Public Health and the Tackling Work Related Respiratory Illness Report is a document which calls on local authorities in Great Britain to become more involved with the BSIF membership in preventing these avoidable diseases.
