The British Safety Industry Federation (BSIF) is seeking expressions of interest for a new part-time Public Sector Procurement Engagement Manager, PPE.

Our Registered Safety Supplier Scheme (RSSS) is the established benchmark of supplier competence and product conformity in the UK PPE and safety products market. It supports responsible suppliers, helps improve supply-chain competence and plays a vital role in UK worker safety by keeping unsafe and non-compliant products off the UK market.

The BSIF’s work has already helped secure identifiable recognition of RSSS in the procurement specifications of many public sector contracts within both local authorities and major projects in the energy, rail and construction sectors. We also issue regular tender alerts, helping BSIF members to identify relevant public sector business.

We want to build on that foundation, protecting more workers, by developing a much stronger network across local authorities, the NHS, emergency services, central government and public sector framework organisations.

The role will focus on:

  • building relationships with procurement and commercial teams;
  • promoting RSSS as a benchmark of competent, conforming supply;
  • influencing procurement specifications and selection criteria;
  • securing evidence of RSSS adoption within frameworks and tenders;
  • improving awareness of compliant PPE procurement.

Wider public sector procurement recognition will increase the value of RSSS membership, support responsible suppliers and improve protection for public sector workers who rely on PPE.

If you have strong UK public sector procurement networks, experience of specification-led engagement, and a passion for improving worker safety, we would like to hear from you.

Please email your expression of interest, including a professional summary, to john.hooker@bsif.co.uk by 1st September.  Appointments will be based on merit and suitability.

All personal data will be handled in accordance with BSIF-Privacy-Notice.pdf.
