Dear colleagues in the UK’s Safety and Health Industry,
When it comes to birthday gifts, I am sure we have all held on to a receipt in case the item in question is the wrong colour, size or fit. Unintentionally purchasing the wrong gift in this circumstance generally results in nothing more than an inconvenience in changing the item. However, procuring the wrong item of PPE in an industrial setting can lead to grave and dangerous consequences.
The selection considerations for PPE can at times be complex with multiple interdependent decisions to be made. As we know manufacturers and suppliers of PPE are often the first point of call for health and safety purchasers when investigating product selection. But how can these individuals be sure that the suggestions to consider from these organisations are correct and what they are selling is appropriate?
As a result of these concerns the BSIF have developed the Safe Supply Accreditation Course, the publicly accredited qualification for those involved in the supply of PPE and Safety Equipment. The accreditation
was developed by the BSIF to strengthen what it means to be a Registered Safety Supplier and is something which 3M supports, recommends and has put their customer facing representatives through.
The Safe Supply Accreditation course is hosted on an on demand, e-learning platform covering educational content in four key areas:
• Principles of Legislation in the H&S Market
• Understanding how Occupational Safety is managed
• Principles of CE Marking and Product Standards
• Principles of Market Surveillance within the H&S environment
The qualification demonstrates to the market that your employees have the knowledge and expertise required to aid with the selection considerations they so often seek. The qualification complements the BSIF Registered Safety Supplier Scheme in differentiating your organisation from competitors whilst at the same time provides a valuable learning and development opportunity for you team.
We strongly recommend Safe Supply Accreditation Course to you. If you wish to enquire further please contact any of the BSIF staff on 01442 248744 or e mail Paul Manning paul.manning@bsif.co.uk Benedicte Ward benedicte.ward@bsif.co.uk or Alan Murray alan.murray@bsif.co.uk
Best wishes,
George Elliott
